Please use a spoon for rice.???

When we observe how our customers eat at KimchiMama, we notice that most Spaniards and other foreigners eat rice with chopsticks. Perhaps this is influenced by Japanese and Chinese cultures, which were introduced here earlier than Korean culture. Even when we tell our customers that using a spoon is more comfortable, many still choose to use chopsticks. Why is that? As mentioned, it may be due to cultural influence from Japan and China. But we also think it has to do with a different dining culture — one that values eating slowly while having a conversation. A spoon is fast and convenient, but it doesn’t quite suit a meal that is meant to be shared through conversation. For many, sitting in front of an empty bowl while continuing to talk feels a bit unnatural. With chopsticks, eating one grain at a time slows everything down.
